I'm Sergi Garcia Ibañez, an Embedded Software Engineer and Team Lead based in Barcelona, Catalonia. I lead the Connectivity & Gateways team at Worldsensing, where we monitor critical civil infrastructure (mines, tunnels, bridges, dams) and geotechnical and environmental assets.
We use LoRa-based wireless sensor nodes powered by batteries that send messages to gateways: custom edge devices running embedded Linux on a single core with 256 MB of RAM. That's where my team works. The gateways collect sensor data and have a local web interface to visualize nodes, graphs, and export data via MQTT, FTP, Modbus TCP, and REST API.
Outside of work, I like to cook, play video games, take care of my plants, and go bowling or play palets when I can.
